Deloitte’s Fast 500
Deloitte published its 2009 Fast 500 listing. This list is a ranking of the 500 fastest-growing technology companies in the United States and Canada.
The Canuck 50
John Ruffolo, Deloitte Canada
It’s refreshing to see that at least 50 of our companies actually managed to make it to the list. Most rankings such as these usually forget about anything north of the 49th. With five year growth rates exceeding 537 % (for the median) it is difficult for many companies to either get on the list and most importantly stay on the list for any period of time. We’ve commented before about the growth of our technology sector and still have reservations about the ability of the industry to recover in the long run.
The software industry was well represented with about 38% of the listings and the Telecom/Networking garnering about 16% of its brethren on the list. While past trends are not a predictor of the future you can rest assured that there will be pressure on most of these companies to continue their stellar growth. One more thing for the CEO to fret about…
